My favorite films

Why I like these films: I like these films due to the fact most are very surreal and managed to have a weird perception of normality/reality. For example Kick Ass and Fight Club.

Man On Fire: I choose Man On Fire because it's a thriller which stuck with me. Despite watching the film a long time ago I can partly remember important scenes in the film because it really caught my eye and attracted my attention. At the time this was one of the most violent films I had seen. So it really got me involved in the thriller style.
Fight Club: I only watched Fight Club recently due to the fact it was called a 'must see' and now I agree. It's graphic nature, unusual concept and the twist with Tyler really got me hooked onto the film. Lives up to its hype.
Dark Knight Trilogy: The Dark Knight Trilogy is brilliant. They brought some of my favorite comic book characters to life in a new and unique style. It felt like I was reading the comics I used to read but with a sense of realism. It brought all the key parts of Batman and brought them on screen, gave the comic industry an more serious look.
Gran Torino: I'm not a fan of cars but Eastwood's serious and somewhat dark performance is what made me love this film. I thought we as an audience felt as if Eastwood knew the Hmong family for years and you could feel a real connection throughout the film. One of the only films I have generally felt sad whilst watching (because you could see that Walt was somewhat in pain and near to death.) Shaun Of The Dead: Shaun of the dead made me view horror films differently. I believe it showed that you can have a successful mixed genre film. Another positive of the film is because it introduced me to one of my favorite actors whilst giving me an insight of British film. Showing you don't need a huge Hollywood budget to make a good film.
Basketball Diaries: This film introduced me to another of my favorite actors (Leonardo DiCaprio.)Ever since this film I have always been intrigued by films about drug addictions. I thought he produced an amazing performance and made me feel as if he was actually on drugs.
Blow: Again another drug related movie. I like movies based around the whole concept of drugs ruining/improving life's. They really do get their message across and I believe this film did it brilliantly without the need of scaring or harming people.
The Truman Show: This film showed a serious side to Jim Carrey which makes me view him as a brilliant actor. It branched him out from other comedic roles and showed as their are many sides to Carrey. As well as that I thought the idea was creative and varied from other movies based around similar themes.
X-Men: First Class: X-Men are my favorite superheroes and most origin films are usually seen as failures, an attempt just to make more money. But when I saw First Class I believe they really wanted to make a film as great as previous films in the franchise. It is certainly one of the most exciting origin movie which I have seen in a while. They really aimed to please the fans as well as just making money.
Kick Ass: Kick Ass showed another side to superhero movies. It showed gritty realism and made us see superheros and more than mutants or men with powers. I feel the wide use of colors and how it was shot show a beautiful side to something which could be seen as disturbing or violent.
Batman Forever: Batman Forever gave me the stereotypical Batman with a gothic feel. Something new mixed with something old. Which I personally liked. It introduced me to Burton's work and I feel as if his style matches what mine would be like.
